I remember being in a science class, at Broad Ripple High School, taught by Dr. Dowell when he asked the class what does DDT stand for & George Suggs pipes up with “Dr. Dowell’s Treatment” – everyone including Dr. Dowell got a good chuckle out of it.

I am saddened by the death of Dr. Dowell. He was my Biology teacher at Broad Ripple High School in 1969-70 during my sophomore year. I have very fond memories of his droll comments during lectures. I especially enjoyed choosing frogs and playing with them one day, not suspecting that we would be dissecting them the next! Dr. Dowell made biology interesting and fun, and I have no doubt he reached many students with his intelligence and wit.

As a fellow Lion member, I remember his time as Tail Twister during the year, 2005-2006. His humor and story telling was trully intertaining. He will be missed.

I am saddened to hear of Dr. Dowell’s passing. Like so many others, he was my biology teacher. I remember his dry wit and quick sense of humor. Unlike some of the other teachers at BRHS, he always made me feel as if I could accomplish anything, that no task or assignement was too difficult. Much of the time he had more confidence in us than we had in ourselves. We were all so lucky to have him as a teacher.
My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.
